Colorado Based Molitron Receives UL Listing for Restaurant Wet Scrubber

DENVER, Colo. - Jan. 18 - Colorado-based Molitron Co. Inc., which has helped the food service industry protect the environment from Alaska to the Antarctic, announced on Friday that it has received UL listing for its self-contained wet scrubber that removes grease, smoke and odor from commercial kitchen exhaust emissions.

The Molitron Enviro-Clean Air Scrubber is designed to remove from the kitchen exhaust air virtually all particulate matter down to 0.7 micron in size, according to Arlen Gallagher, inventor of the scrubber, as well as founder and president of the family owned business. Obtaining the UL listing -- the gold standard of approval for worldwide manufacturing - involved a 14-month process of testing for efficacy and safety.

Molitron, which has been offering its "green" products since 1986, manufacturers equipment that meets the strictest state regulations, and was awarded a certificate of validation from the Center for Emissions Research and Analysis in California in 1993. "It was just the beginning of the environmental movement and states wanted to reduce emissions from a wide range of businesses," he said.

The Underwriters Laboratories listing for the scrubber, effective in January, will allow Molitron to expand its operations around the globe, Vice President for Marketing Barbara Gallagher said. "We have sent our equipment to such diverse places as Cyprus, Prudhoe Bay in Alaska and the West Indies," she said.

Denver-based Molitron, whose products are all fabricated in the United States, received UL listing for two other of its leading pieces of equipment, water filter ventilators and filter hoods. "With the latest listing, Molitron can expand geographically and be used in jurisdictions that prior to now were not allowed to use us," Barbara Gallagher said.

The company's leading edge designs are used in at least 20 U.S. states, including Alaska and Hawaii and its water hoods were installed at the McMurdo and Palmer stations, operated by Raytheon Co. in Antarctica, an area where the most rigid environmental protection rules are implemented.
